The 16th Annual Bob Johnson Invitational Fish Decoy Contest was held at the Brainerd High School this year, as our annual 2021 Little Falls Show was postponed due to covid.
Ron Hamm of Frazee, Minnesota, won the Minnesota Fishing Museum Fish Decoy Carver of the Year Award with a fantastic decorative frog decoy. Ron is the most active Board Member of the National Fish Decoy Association, and supporter of Junior programs. Junior winners from the Brainerd High School fish decoy carving class were: 1st- Dominic Craig 2nd- Cole Proctor 3rd- Zach Struffert 4th- Bryce Brose 5th- Brandt Patton Rick Jensen is the Brd. High Instructor. The decoy for 2022 is a 7 - 9 inch decorative working sucker fish decoy, and the bonus class is a working hand carved fish bobber, 5 7 inches long. The junior Class is open to anyone still in High School at the time of the contest. We expect to be back at the FALLS BALLROOM next spring, the first weekend in March , for our annual sporting collectible, art, duck and fish decoy show. The National Fish Decoy Association is pleased to announce the winners of it's annual fundraising gun raffle. The raffle was held at the Community Center in Perham MN.
Gun no. 1 , a Winchester mod. 70, went to D. Wacker of Pierz, MN. Gun no. 2 , a Winchester 6.5, went to R. Kohls of Sauk Rapids, MN. Gun no. 3, a Remington 30-06 went to R. Hamm, of Frazee, MN.
